It's raining sharks!!The shark first appeared on 9 August 1986. Bill Heine, a local radio presenter who still owns the house, has said "The shark was to express someone feeling totally Created by sculptor John Buckley, the shark was controversial when it first appeared. Oxford City Council tried to have it taken down on grounds of safety, and then on the ground that it had not given planning permission for the shark, offering to host it at the local swimming pool instead, but there was much local support for the shark. |
Look out for your valuables!
Recently an English photographer was taking pictures of a rare monkey in Sulawesi. He'd spent a lot of time photographing the troop and was surprised when, on the third day, one of male monkeys nicked his digital camera and proceeded to take several hundred pictures, some in focus and a couple of very good self portrats (yes that's him to the left!). Talk about - monkey see, monkey do. And what about the African lioness who picked up a small digital camera and made off with it - great shots of her tongue and nose in the process. But that's another story! |

I don't know if it's the air in Indonesia but the animals seem smarter somehow! In the days when I smoked (terrible admission) I would carry a pack of cigarettes in my shirt pocket, as well as a pen and, often, a lighter. Balinese monkeys stole the lot on my first visit; and got the cigarettes on the second.
