Look out for your valuables!
I don't know if it's the air in Indonesia but the animals seem smarter somehow! In the days when I smoked (terrible admission) I would carry a pack of cigarettes in my shirt pocket, as well as a pen and, often, a lighter. Balinese monkeys stole the lot on my first visit; and got the cigarettes on the second.
Recently an English photographer was taking pictures of a rare monkey in Sulawesi.
He'd spent a lot of time photographing the troop and was surprised when, on the third day, one of male monkeys nicked his digital camera and proceeded to take several hundred pictures, some in focus and a couple of very good self portrats (yes that's him to the left!). Talk about - monkey see, monkey do.
And what about the African lioness who picked up a small digital camera and made off with it - great shots of her tongue and nose in the process. But that's another story!
